Humanitarian demining
Humanitarian demining methods have seen minimal development in recent decades. The basic work still depends on manual work by men and women whose tools consist of a stick and scythe. Since many fragmentation mines are scattered in undergrowth, with a trip wire to detonate them, deminers must begin by first clearing the vegetation, twig by twig.
demining_sudanThe task of demining is extremely demanding. Under good conditions, without counting the risk of detonating a mine, a deminer cannot clear more than fifty square meters in a day.

In order to accelerate this process, demining machines have been developed over the last decade.

The purpose of demining machines is not to clear the terrain of mines, but to prepare it for manual mine clearance teams. demining_afghanistan
Recent analysis indicates that lightweight machines contribute significantly to increased efficiency and safety in mine clearance operations.

Cost-effectiveness, quality and simplicity of use in the field are basic requirements for a lightweight, multi-tool, remote controlled vehicle for mine clearance. The Digger D-3 meets these requirements.
