In order to assist deminers to control the D-3 demining machines, DIGGER DTR implemented a totally integrated remote camera concept. This system allows the use of these vehicles in wider hazardous scenarios like fire interventions, irradiated or chemically contaminated zones and for large IED or UXO manipulations. Moreover, if it’s combined with a shovel or any other CATERPILLAR® tool in front of the vehicle, it protects the operator from many risks inherent to the different missions. This versatile camera system gives the operator a large front view (two cameras insuring redundancy) and also a rear view facilitating movements in complex areas. These rugged cameras are additionally specially protected against stones projections and dense vegetation environment. Also, rain does not interrupt the image transmission or its quality.
This camera system is a standard option of our DIGGER D-3. When used with our intelligent digging depth control system, it makes the system really easy to use for mine clearance digging processes. Furthermore, this remote camera and driving system can be used up to several kilometers in total security because of the use of a “state of the art” radio digital technology.
