The DIGGER D-3 concept is based on requirements given by deminers from the field, but is completed by new tools, allowing the machine to be used for different tasks (see page Tools). DIGGER DTR wants to stay in permanent contact with people from the field, in order to continuously integrate their wishes and remarks in the products.

With its multi-tool concept, the D-3 can be used as a component of the well known "toolbox" for mine clearance. The first tools specifically developed by DIGGER DTR are a flail and a tiller. Besides this, a large variety of standard Caterpillar® tools can be attached to the D-3 and easily interchanged thanks to a Caterpillar® quick coupler. This concept allows the DIGGER D-3 to be efficiently used for different mine clearance tasks.

The D-3 is equipped with a four cylinder John Deere diesel engine with 4.5 L displacement. It develops a maximum power output of 173 hp (129 kW) at 2400 RPM. The maximum torque is 645 Nm at 1400 RPM. This engine is designed for use in heavy industry and extreme environments, giving a good reliability. It complies with the latest European exhaust emissions standards.

The hydrostatic transmission of the D-3 is using 4 pumps fixed to the diesel engine. These pumps distribute the oil flow to 4 independent hydraulic circuits. This hydrostatic power train concept allows to easily command the forward speed and direction of the D-3.

Remote control ensures the security of the operator while working with the DIGGER D-3. Behind this protection shield, he controls all the functions and data from the machine. The ergonomic design transmitter with 2 joysticks and different function buttons allows the operator to command precisely the motion of the machine. The transmitter voltage is 12 V, so a simple car battery can be connected when the accumulator is down or simply to reload it on the field.
